Top Ten iPad Apps

AEparker’s Top Ten iPad apps

This is the first of many Top Ten Tuesdays. Every Tuesday I will list my top ten in an interesting subject or maybe something that is suggested by you, the reader.

Today I want to list my top ten apps for iPad. I use my iPad very faithfully. It’s become a big part of my daily routine. I use it for business, I use it for fun and, I also use it when I’m on the run… HA!

  • CNN app helps me keep up with a lot of current events. If you are the type that likes to keep up with the news and your iPad is always near, then this is it. This app automatically notifies me when there is breaking news. There breaking news videos and live stream news. The layout is very easy to use. Keep up with what’s going on with this app.
  • HootSuite for iPad is a great social media tool. As much as I stay updated on my social media, I needed something like this. I’ve used other apps for this but they don’t quite stand up to HootSuite for iPad. I’m able to post to multiple social media site that I use. Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin are updated with HootSuite. One of my favorite features is the ability to make future posts. You can schedule a post for tomorrow if you know you will be busy.
  • Zinio for iPad is a magazine app. I love my magazines, so it’s obvious that I would love this app. I have converted all of my paper magazine subscriptions to digital subscription. If you are a magazine person, this is the app for you.
  • Square is a must have for a small business. Square sends you a free card-swiper that connects to your iPad and works great. The great thing is there is No Monthly Fees or Contracts. There is only 2.75% per swipe. So, even if your buddy owes you money, the excuse that he only has his check card on him will not work.
  • Zite for iPad is a personalized magazine app that gets smarter as you use it. What it does is, as you read the different blogs from the different topics, it knows that you like what you read because of what you read the most. I keep up with a lot of photography blogs with this app. It will always load blogs that you read the most. I was skeptical when I first got this app but now I love it.
  • Flipboard is a personalized social magazine. This app also is personalized but you do the work. It keeps up with your blogs as well as your social media. Read Twitter and Facebook posts here. Flipboard was app of the year last you and rightly so. I use it mostly to keep track of different blogs that I read.
  • Evernote has to be one of my favorites. If you are not familiar with Evernote, I highly recommend you looking into it. Evernote is an app that allows me to take notes and save them. The cool thing is I can find these notes on most any device I own. I can even go to my iMac and finish up a blog post that I may have been writing on my iPad. This app also allows you to take pictures and record sound notes. With this note, I will never forget anything that I take note of. It’s like my second brain.
  • Easy Release is an app that I use to compose model releases for photo sessions. This app keep my business more paperless. I can email a copy of the release to my client, after it is signed by the client, a witness and myself.
  • Kindle for iPad is another app that helps me stay paperless. I like being able to carry many books along with me on the go. I can read anywhere. I also use iBooks but the books that I am currently reading is on my Kindle app. This app syncs bookmarks, highlights, and furthest page read to all of my devices. Reading is very convenient now.
  • 2Do for iPad may be my favorite app. It is a to-do app that syncs with Apple’s MobileMe, which will soon be the iCloud. Everything I need to do can be entered in this app and I can pull it up on my iCloud apps, like iCal. You can also add multiple calendars, which really comes in handy when managing a busy life. Push notification make this app even more usable because it tells you when something is over due.

Well, this is my top ten iPad apps.

There will be more post like this one on every Tuesday. Feel free to add your favorite in the comments below. Also, you can leave suggestions of what Top Ten you want to hear about next week.
